The Lumix DMC-FX100K has an advanced 28mm wide-angle, 3.6 optical zoom Leica DC lens system featuring four aspherical lenses. It includes an EA lens with five aspherical surfaces. A large 1/1.72-inch CCD with an effective 12.1 Megapixels is the highest resolution in its class. The Lumix DMC-FX100K also features an Extended Optical Zoom, which extends zooming up to 7.0x with a simple press of the Easy Zoom button. Intelligent ISO Control makes it easier to take clear, crisp shots even if your subject moves. This innovative feature detects any movement and automatically raises both the ISO setting and the shutter speed accordingly, preventing motion blur. Hand-shake is not a problem with the Lumix DMC-FX100. MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) automatically compensates for hand-shake. Mega Burst Shooting lets you take consecutive shots at a swift two shots per second. The High-Speed Burst Mode goes a step further, letting you snap off consecutive shots eight shots per second. This makes it easier to catch the perfect action shot of a fast-moving subject.

"The idea of the Panasonic DMC-FX100K Digital Camera may seem like an anomaly at first. After all, who but professional photographers needs 12 megapixels? And don't prosumers prefer DSLRs? In short, the answer is yes, but even power users want a break from heavy zooms without sacrificing quality, which is where the compact DMC-FX100 fits in. It's the first camera to feature 12-MP resolution and a 28mm wide-angle lens. The FX100's 3.6X optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, and new 16-meter flash all help make this an impressive performer for $399.

For a camera so rich in features, the silver FX100, also available in black, is unassuming in design. At 6.2 ounces, it isn't the lightest camera, but its 3.8 x 2.1 x 1-inch stainless-steel chassis is still small enough to carry with ease. The 2.5-inch LCD is big enough and bright enough to see both indoors and out. The camera also features an LCD mode, which lets you choose from three brightness levels."

"I have used Panasonic DMC-FX100K Digital Camera now for about 3 moths and I am really happy with it. My previous camera was a Sony DSCP72 model 3.2 mega pixel camera which I used for almost 3 years without any problems.
Now with a family and baby on the way, I felt it was necessary to get a new better camera for all those special moments and also to help me in my work on a very basic level.

There isn't much defference in the quality between 8 and 12 megapixels. However, if you are the sort who like to edit your images and have some room to crop it etc, 12 mega pixel is a good bet. I usually take pictures on 12 and if required crop of some areas and still have a fairly large sized shot good enough to print to fairly large sizes.

So far really happy with the camera and quality of images. "
